Steel Trees make for sore woodpeckers! July 22, 2019
Reviewer: David M. from Olathe, KS United States
I bought the Xtree with the 1/4"paddles and the extra 3/8" paddles to go with it.  I got it in April and have been very happy with it.  It is very strong and heavy.  I haven't had to stake it down shooting it with 9mm, 45 acp and 12ga. birdshot loads.  The paddles change easily and they are one piece, no welds to break.  I got the 1/4 inch paddles so I could shoot .22 rimfire with it.  My club requires 3/8 inch steel for anything above a 9mm / .38 spl, so I also bought the 3/8" paddles and actually the 9mm made the paddles bounce, so 3/8 is the way to go if you are shooting centerfire!   It is holding up well and transports pretty easily as it breaks down to the base unit, the center shaft and the paddles, but it is NOT light weight!   I don't have my own range so I have to pack my steel back and forth to the private range I belong to.  I shopped around quite a while before putting my money into a unit and I couldn't find a better price for a unit with such heavy duty construction.

Good competition July 15, 2019
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Temperance, MI United States
A challenge, fun to shoot, paddles held up very well. No dents, cratering or bending. Stand needs to be a bit heavier built and tree fit better into the stand. Get a good hit on a paddle and when it slams to the other side the sudden stop will cause one or both of the other paddles to swing over to the opponent's side without being shot. Only center fire handgun caused this, when shot with a rimfire the tree worked perfectly. Still great fun to shoot! Ended up making my own base, which was wider, longer, and weighs more than 10 times the base that came with the tree. Also changed how the tree mounts to the base and purchased the 3/8" paddles. When shot with center fire handguns it works the way it's supposed to after all of my upgrades.

Excellent quality tree, great price July 5, 2019
Reviewer: Tom C. from Ashville, OH United States
After a few sessions with this tree, I'm very impressed.  The paddles swing freely (to the point that they sometimes bounce back with solid hits) which will be outstanding once they start to collect spall and paint and rust, which has caused other swingers I've owned to cease to reliably flip.

The protective angle-guard for the stem is very robust, showing no signs of permanent damage after multiple hits, and the base is the perfect mix of stable and mobile.

The whole package seems engineered for longevity and ease of use, which is outstanding considering the price point.

Worst tree made May 19, 2018
Reviewer: Elliott Davis from Waynesville , OH United States
tree will not handle the impact of even a 9mm at 25 yards without flipping over 1 or 2 more paddles. I was told to set the lean angle at the next and only other lean options... the target system just over like Andre the giant after 3 barrels of beer at last call immediately after letting go(on level ground) the tree I got came with the "mystical" black widow stand which is not what is pictured. I'm guessing problem with this black widow stand is the footprint of the stand does not exceed the swing dimensions of the paddles causing the tree swing like a palm tree in a hurricane? If you would like spending $400+ on a target so you can weld a new stand that's appropriate for the system then you've found your dream tree! If not, I'd look elsewhere. I almost forgot, I was also told to buy the 3/8" paddles to for more stability? At that point it seems like false advertising " rated to .45 ACP". riiiight, I call BS on that fix option.
